What I notarize

I meet you at your home, office, or wherever the signing needs to happen. Bring the document; I handle the notarization.

  • Affidavits and sworn statements

Oaths and jurats for court, insurance, school, and employment paperwork.

  • Powers of attorney and family documents

Including signings that can't wait until business hours.

  • Real estate and business documents

Deeds, contracts, and agreements that need an acknowledgment.

  • Bills of sale and vehicle paperwork

Cars, boats, and anything else that needs a notary's stamp.

  • Weddings and vow renewals

Florida notaries can legally marry you. Elopements, backyard and beach ceremonies, and vow renewals anywhere in Brevard. Bring your Florida marriage license.

  • VIN verification

Florida's VIN verification form (HSMV 82042) for vehicles coming from out of state. I inspect the VIN wherever the vehicle is parked.

  • I-9 employment verification

I review a new hire's documents in person as the employer's authorized representative. This is a document check, not a notarization.

  • Printing and blank forms

Need a copy printed, or a blank form like an I-9, a VIN verification form, or a basic power of attorney? I can print it and bring it for a small fee. You fill it out; I can't complete it for you.

  • Hospital, nursing home, and hospice visits

Call me directly so I can plan around visiting rules and the signer's needs.

  • Jail notarizations

I meet inmates at the Brevard County Jail to notarize powers of attorney, affidavits, and other documents. Book at least a day ahead so I can arrange the visit.

Remote online notarization and loan signings are coming soon.

How an appointment works

  1. Book a time

Call or book online. Tell me what's being signed, how many signers there are, and where to meet.

  2. Approve your estimate

I send a written estimate by text or email. Nothing is charged until you approve it.

  3. I come to you

Every signer shows a valid photo ID and signs in front of me. I notarize and you're done.

Pricing

Florida sets the notary fee at $10 per notarized signature. The only other charge is a travel and service fee, and you see it before I leave.

That fee depends on how far I drive, how soon you need me, the time of day, and whether the location has extra steps like hospital check-in.

I accept card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and cash. Late-night appointments are billed the same way as any other.

Questions

About notaries

What does a notary do?

A notary public is an impartial witness appointed by the State of Florida. When you sign an important document, I confirm you are who you say you are by checking your ID, make sure you're signing willingly and understand you're signing, watch you sign, and then complete the notarial certificate with my signature and official seal. That gives the people receiving your document confidence that the signature is genuine.

What can a Florida notary do?

Florida notaries can take acknowledgments (common on deeds, powers of attorney, and contracts), administer oaths and affirmations for sworn statements and affidavits (jurats), certify copies of documents that aren't public records, and perform marriage ceremonies. I also complete Florida VIN verifications and act as an employer's authorized representative for I-9 forms.

What can't a notary do?

I'm not an attorney, so I can't give legal advice, tell you which document you need, explain what a document means, or fill it out for you. Florida law also doesn't allow me to notarize for my own spouse, parents, or children, or to certify copies of public records like birth, death, or marriage certificates. For those, contact the agency that issued the record.

Can you help me pick or fill out my document?

I can't choose a document for you or fill one out. I can print your document, or bring a blank form like an I-9, a VIN verification form, or a basic power of attorney, for a small fee. Which form to use and what to write in it is your decision, or your attorney's.

Can you get my document apostilled?

An apostille comes from the Florida Department of State, not from a notary. I can notarize the document first if it needs a notarization; then you submit it to the Department of State for the apostille.

IDs and signing

What ID do signers need?

A current, government-issued photo ID with a signature, such as a Florida driver's license or ID card, a U.S. passport, a U.S. military ID, or a driver's license or ID from another state. It can't be expired. Every person signing needs their own.

What if a signer's ID is expired or missing?

Florida allows a signer to be identified by credible witnesses who know them and have their own valid ID, in some situations. Call me before booking and we'll work out whether that fits your case.

Do I need witnesses?

It depends on the document. Some, like deeds, wills, and many powers of attorney, require witnesses in addition to a notary. Check your document or ask the person who gave it to you, and let me know when you book so we can plan for it.

Can I sign before you arrive?

Please don't. For most notarizations, you need to sign in front of me. Fill in everything else, and leave the signature lines blank.

Booking and pricing

Do you work evenings and weekends?

Yes. I take appointments every day from 8 AM until 2 AM, weekends included, so you don't have to fit a signing into business hours.

How soon can you come?

Online booking needs at least an hour's notice. For anything sooner, call and I'll see what I can do.

Will you come to a hospital or jail?

Yes. For hospitals, nursing homes, and hospice, call me directly so I can plan around visiting rules and the signer's condition. For the Brevard County Jail, book a jail notarization at least a day ahead. Florida has special identification rules for inmates, so tell me what ID they have when you book.

How much does it cost?

Florida sets the notary fee at $10 per notarized signature, and $30 to perform a marriage ceremony. On top of that there's a travel and service fee based on distance, how soon you need me, the time of day, and the location. You get the total in writing to approve before I head out.

How do I pay?

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or cash. You approve a written estimate first, and late-night appointments are billed the same way as any other.
